On June 30th Spirited Strings will return to St. Peter’s and serve us with their “Names of God” service. This service of readings, music, and worship focuses on two Old Testament Hebrew names and three New Testament Greek names used to refer to God and what they tell us about him. Spirited Strings is a group of WELS siblings who enjoy worshiping God together with string instruments. They are led by Alicia Michelle, who has been a violinist since age 4 and also plays the mountain and hammered dulcimers and the mandolin. Alicia Michelle has been the featured soloist with several orchestras, including the Illinois Symphony and the Green Bay Civic Symphony, and at age 14 became the youngest member ever of both the Fox Valley and Green Bay Symphony Orchestras. Since age 10 she has led worship with various WELS musicians, including Mike Westendorf, Chris Driesbach, Koine, The Lutheran Ceili Orchestra, and Zanmei, and she has helped record three Christian albums. Alicia’s older sister Deanna (viola and flute) and younger sister Karina (cello) share her goal of using the musical gifts God has given them to help draw many people closer to Him. Earlier this year, Alicia and Spirited Strings won the Wisconsin Area Music Industry’s award for Best Gospel/Christian Artist of the Year.
